What we look for and the Application ProcessGraduate Development Program The RBA is a world-class organisation seeking only the best graduates - about 30 each year. To be successful, you must expect to have completed a superior honours or post-graduate degree by the end of the year you apply. We are interested in a wide range of study backgrounds, including double degrees. Most areas of the Bank require a solid background in economics, some areas also look for majors in commerce and finance. Studies in accounting, law and science are an advantage in some areas too. Graduate applications for 2009 will open around Feb/Mar 2008. If you would like to discuss your application personally, please contact graduates@rba.gov.au Cadetship Award To apply for vacation work under our Cadetship Award, you must currently be in your third year of study (or equivalent if undertaking a double degree) majoring in economics or finance and intending to complete honours in 2008. We will also consider applications from students undertaking a double degree, also majoring in economics or finance who will not complete their studies at honours level until 2009. As a guide, you'll need an academic rating of distinction average across the relevant majors in your degree to be considered for either opportunity. Your degree must be from an Australian university or recognised by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR) as an equivalent qualification. Your application must provide detailed academic results. We will not process your application in their absence. Most importantly of all, however, you will need to have a demonstrable and genuine interest in the work performed by the RBA. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia at the time of making their application. Please note the RBA only accepts applications via the online application process. Applications for economics graduate & cadetship positions are now closed. Graduate applications for 2009 will open around Feb/Mar 2008. Contact us Interviews for graduate opportunities will be held from mid May. Interviews for cadetship opportunities will be held from mid August. If called for interview you will be sent a detailed briefing note about our interview process. If you live interstate the Bank will bring you to Sydney for interview. Offers will be made as soon as possible following the completion of interviews. All positions are in Sydney. Graduate placements commence early February. The eight weeks' work experience under our Cadetship Award commences early December.
